Europe to Allow Two Bans on Genetically Altered Crops

Is anyone surprised this happened?

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/03/business/worldbusiness/03biotech.html?_r=1&scp=4&sq=2009%20monsanto%20articles&st=cse

And how about this quote from the article:
"Only one genetically altered crop is currently grown in Europe: a form of corn, called MON 810, produced by Monsanto and other companies."

They're growing a 'form' of corn...NOT REAL, NATURAL CORN! No one can 'own' corn or anything else that's naturally grown food from the earth.  But when a crop is genetically modified, it legally allows the company (Monsanto, for example) to give it an official name ("MON 810" in this case) so they can own the patent.  Their goal is to own the world food supply.

We've all heard the saying "you are what you eat".  OK, so they claim GMO's keep down the costs of animal feed; but if we consume animals who were fed GMO feed, we are what THEY ate. Too risky.

Are we on board here?
