FDA Revisits Mercury Fillings Today

The FDA advisory committee is holding a two day hearing to re-evaluate scientific data regarding the safety of mercury amalgam fillings.

Eighteen months ago, the FDA claimed that there wasn't enough science to prove that the 170 year old practice is harmful to patients.

Four consumer and dental groups say the FDA used flawed science when it set the guidelines eighteen months ago. There may be no vote on this, but they may decide to reverse their earlier decision and send it to the main board for review.

LNH, Californians for Green Dentistry and Consumers for Dental Choice will continue to work in concert to report updates.
