Read Haiku to Hamburg … Then Call or rite Sharfstein

A message from Charles G Brown, National Counsel, Consumers for Dental Choice:

Our creative friend Marilynn Block of Portland, Ore., wrote this Haiku to Hamburg, which I re-publish in full:

To: margaret.hamburg@fda.hhs.gov
Subject: Haiku for Hamburg
2 Sep 2009

Haiku poems inspired by your actions and conflict of interest in the recent mercury amalgam ruling.
Leaves turn brown, crumble and fall
The wind carries them away.
Margaret Hamburg

Here's another one, a more modern Haiku:
To Margaret Hamburg,
From the American people.
"You're FIRED!"

--Marilynn Block
I had mouth cancer from the mercury amalgam material you promote as "safe."

Fellow Americans and friends around the world: Our great grassroots movement smoked out FDA Commissioner Hamburg. The reason she was hiding the date she recused herself is that there was no such date. So Deputy Commissioner Sharfstein needs to answer:
1) With Dr. Hamburg never formally recusing herself, how could you, Dr. Sharfstein, know he was in charge of the rule-making?
2) On what date did you take charge of the amalgam rule-making?

Please call Deputy Commissioner Sharfstein at 301.796-5040, or write him, JMSharf1@fda.hhs.gov

Friday is the contact day for those in the Eastern and Atlantic time zones. But if you haven’t had the chance to call or write this week, please do so on Friday. Dr Sharfstein needs to be held accountable.

PS---Ohio’s largest paper, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, ran a major story on our cause, entitled “Dangers of mercury fillings worry some despite federal OK.” Quoted are Michael Bender of the Mercury Policy Project, Dr. Terry Messerman, and Professor Herbert Needleman.
