Dr Mercola Jump-Starts Our International Campaign

A quick note to say THANK YOU to those that have

donated so far -- we're nearing the halfway point to

our fund-raising goal of $10,000. We particularly would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Joe Mercola of the

well-respected natural health newsletter. As soon as word

of ourinternational project got out, Dr. Mercola offered to

kick off ourcampaign with a generous donation.

As many of you know, Dr. Mercola has long fought to

eliminate mercuryfillings: He has interviewed leading

mercury-free advocates like Charlie Brown, written

compelling articles exposing amalgam in his widely-circulated

newsletter, and marshaled grassroots activists to stand up for

their right to mercury-free dentistry.

If you didn't see the email I sent last week, please read it

below. If you meant to donate and just hadn't gotten around

to it yet, please click here now to contribute. Every little bit

helps in taking this next big step in our mission to abolish

mercury amalgams worldwide.

Thank you, everybody!

Here is my earlier email in case you didn’t see it …

An Important Note from the Board

The following is an urgent note from Sandra Duffy,

president of the board, Consumers for Dental Choice.

Dear fellow consumers,

I am writing to you on behalf of our board to request your help.

In an amazing convergence of circumstances, Consumers for

Dental Choice has applied for and been given an international

platform and a role in negotiating the world-wide phase-out of

mercury amalgam dental fillings.

In June 2010, the nations of the world will gather in Stockholm,

Sweden to begin negotiating a treaty that will determine which

mercury products will be phased-out and when.

The World Dental Federation (representing the American Dental

Association) will be there to lobby hard for a phase-out exception

for dental amalgam.

The United Nations has just granted non-government organization

(NGO) status to Consumers for Dental Choice, which means that we

can participate in the negotiations -- and give dental consumers,

amalgam victims, and parents a strong voice fighting for an end to

amalgam on the world stage.

We have come so far in this movement! The infamous ADA gag rule

is in the dustbins of history. Fact sheet warnings on amalgam exist

for millions of dental patients. We exposed the wrongdoing with the

amalgam classification at the Food and Drug Administration, and

organized the ongoing boycott of amalgam colossus Henry Schein Inc.

Now, FDA is forced to reconsider its abysmal amalgam rule in the wake

of “unprecedented consumer-level pressure.”

In the words of FDA Webview, “No final rule in FDA's modern history, or

perhaps ever, has attracted this kind of organized opposition.”

We have the track record!

And today, we have an opportunity like no other. We can send

Charlie Brown, our National Legal Counsel and primary voice in this

effort for over 10 years, to Stockholm in June to participate in the first

session of the mercury treaty negotiations. Consumers for Dental Choice

will lead an international team of organizations against the continued use

of mercury amalgam.

With so many of our supporters waging their own health battles with

amalgam poisoning, we have been reluctant to request donations from

consumers in the past.

However, our recent UN recognition was unanticipated, and Consumers

for Dental Choice now needs to raise additional funds for the

international travel, the press relations work, and the translation services,

etc. required to seize this opportunity.

So for the first time in the history of Consumers for Dental Choice, we are

turning to you, the consumers in this cause, for financial assistance. We

hope that you will help us reach our goal of $10,000.

Please click here to contribute by PayPal.

Or you can mail a check or money order to: Consumers for Dental Choice, 316 F St., N.E., #210, Washington DC, 20002

Remember: Consumers for Dental Choice is a non-profit organization so all donations are tax deductible.

Partner with us in this historic watershed event. With your help, we can stand up to pro-amalgam dentistry and protect dental consumers all around the world! Thank you for your support.

Sincerely, Sandy
