Urgent! Tell FDA to Ban Arsenic in Animal Feed!

The chickens you buy at the grocery store are given feed containing arsenic to make them gain weight faster. Arsenic is a deadly poison and carcinogen.

A petition has been filed with the FDA to remove arsenic from animal feed, and TOMORROW (June 15, 2010) is the last day for public comment. Please take action on this important petition immediately:
Make your voice heard.

The FDA is supposed to be watching out for our safety and well being. That said, recent actions (or lack thereof) would imply differently. It's up to each of us to become actively involved in watching our for our own health, safety and well being.

Live BLUE!

Summer is upon us, and it's time many flock to the beach for a little respite. Next time you set up your 'camp' on your favorite beach, take a look at the ocean -- I mean, reeeeeally look at it....the color of the water, the blur of the horizon, and the endless sets of waves --- you can even smell the ocean in the air! It's awesome -- in the truest sense of the word. I was born in Michigan, and grew up summering at a lake. Yes, it was gorgeous, super clean and lots of fun. But it wasn't until I was 8 years old, when we moved to the East Coast, that I saw my first ocean -- the Atlantic. I still remember feeling my eyes opening wide and I was rendered speechless (imagine a quiet 8 year old girl). I couldn't wait to run and jump in!

Years later, I was 'boiled' by a set of waves when I was a gangly 12 year old learning to surf (LOL!) at the Jersey Shore. I was knocked off the board and flew head-first, hitting the sandy, rocky bottom, and helplessly tossing and rolling toward shore (at the wave's discretion), losing my bikini top in the process. I was knocked silly, but was totally humiliated later when I realized the lifeguards came charging down the beach to check on the condition of the blonde mess that washed up on shore, and handed me my top as the crowd looked on. I was reminded of how powerful a force that ocean was every day for about a week or so later, as the cuts and bruises healed. Humbling would be an understatement of the experience.

I have always lived at or on one ocean or another since college, but these days, it's on the Pacific. I go to the beach to walk, run, practice yoga, clear my mind, ease my mind, cry, pray, sing, think, sleep, picnic, party, build fires, reflect and even write --- and I watch the sets of waves, feeling their ebb and flow.

I'm inspired by everything about the ocean. I go and watch the sun come up when I'm visiting back East, and enjoy amazing sunsets when I'm home. Here, I've seen dolphins play, whales surface and little creatures crawl up on the beach. This is their home --- and I see myself as a guest in their world. That said, It breaks my heart when I see trash wash up on shore or people carelessly leave their picnic rubbish and cigarette butts behind in the wake of their 'good time'. Your tax dollars manage beaches, but who's taking care of the ocean?

Recent events in the Gulf have brought worldwide attention to our waters. We wonder what impact the BP spill will have on our future -- economically AND environmentally. Oceana is the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the world's oceans.

June 8th is World's Ocean Day.

Oceana, founded in 2001, is the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation. Their offices in North America, Central America, South America and Europe work together on a limited number of strategic, directed campaigns to achieve measurable outcomes that will help return our oceans to former levels of abundance. They believe in the importance of science in identifying problems and solutions. Their scientists work closely with our teams of economists, lawyers and advocates to achieve tangible results for the oceans.

Oceana's website is chock full of varied and interesting information. Go to:

Enjoy a peaceful weekend.

Congratulations, Jonathan Emord!

Jonathan Emord and OC at 2010 Health Freedom Expo, Long Beach CA

Congratulations to America's champions of health freedom, Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw. They were the lead plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the FDA for violation of First Amendment rights regarding health claims - and they just won.

Here is the press release of Durk & Sandy's law firm, Emord & Associates:

"We are pleased to report that the law firm of
Jonathan Emord, Emord & Associates, has defeated the Food and Drug Administration in The Alliance for Natural Health USA v. Sebelius before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

"The decision issued on May 27, 2010 upsets the FDA's attempt to overturn the six prior decisions
Emord has won against the agency's prior censorship of health claims.

"It reaffirms that the FDA is subject to the strictures of the First Amendment in its evaluation of health claims, and it faults the FDA for failing to follow that standard, holding its suppression of the selenium-cancer risk reduction claims unconstitutional.

"In the present case, Emord filed suit on behalf of The Alliance for Natural Health USA; Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw; and Coalition to End FDA and FTC Censorship against the FDA, alleging that its censorship of ten selenium-cancer risk reduction claims violated the First Amendment.

"In its decision, the Court held:

The Court concludes that the FDA's position fails under Pearson I. The Agency has not provided any empirical evidence, such as 'studies' or 'anecdotal evidence,' that consumers would be misled by... plaintiffs' claims were they accompanied by qualifications.... Moreover, the explanation the FDA offers to demonstrate that plaintiffs' claims are misleading ? that the claims leave out pertinent information ? is not support for banning the claims entirely, but rather favors the approach of remedying any potential misleadingness by disclosure of additional information.

"The Court further held FDA's lengthy and misleading disclaimers unconstitutional because they were neither succinct nor accurate but defeated the meaning of the claim rather than qualified the meaning. The Court ordered the FDA to reconsider all challenged claims and come up with reasonable disclaimers to accompany them.

"This decision is the seventh won by the firm for its clients [Pearson & Shaw] in federal court challenges against FDA claim suppression. Despite the repeat victories, the FDA continues to avoid compliance with the First Amendment mandates of the courts.
Emord and Associates welcomes your inquiries at (202) 466-6937."

The FDA (Federal Death Administration) has waged an unconstitutional war against the vitamin and nutritional supplement industry on behalf of Big Pharma for decades.

By violating the First Amendment rights of the industry, it has cost the lives of millions who were prevented from learning truthful health information that could have saved or extended their lives. Fewer people will die now and more will live because of Durk & Sandy's heroically persistent efforts to force the FDA to obey the Constitution.

All Americans owe them a debt of gratitude.

Jonathan Emord has defeated the FDA more than any other attorney in American history. He is a brilliant lecturer and author. Learn more here:

Quote for the Day

"Perhaps we are meant to become acquainted with many different people in the course of our life, so that when we meet the right ones, we can appreciate and be grateful for them."

FDA Bans Vitamin B6!

I receive Dr Norman Shealy's newsletter regularly, and I'm sharing what I received today:

FDA at its WORST (c)
C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.

Everyone knows that the FDA is in the palm of the PharmacoMafia. Now they have done it again. They have banned a natural vitamin, Pyridoxamine, a metabolically more active form of pyridoxine or B6. B6 is the least prevalent in nature of the basic B vitamins and in most vitamin supplements is far lower in concentration that B 1, 2, 3. Personally I prefer equal dosages of all 4 of these critical B's, with adults getting a minimum of 25 mg each daily. B6 is particularly critical for preventing heart disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, and Alzheimer's. In general Pyridoxine is safe up to 1000 mg daily for one month, 500 mg daily for one month BUT must not be taken long term at higher dosages than 100 mg. Over a 6 to 12 month period, large dosages can CAUSE neuropathy! Pyridoxamine, on the other hand, can be taken in large dosages indefinitely and is of particular benefit in preventing diabetic kidney failure and some other diabetic complications.

Here is the unfortunate rub. A DRUG company spent a few million proving the benefits of Pyridoxamine in preventing diabetic kidney complications and they requested the FDA to classify Pyridoxamine as a drug! OF COURSE, the FDA promptly banned the sale of Pyridoxamine OTC!! Now you MAY be able o get it at a cost 10 or 20 times greater!
There is nothing to be gained by petitioning the FDA. Call, write , fax, email your Congress reps and INSIST that the FDA reverse this atrocity! At the same time inform your reps that you will vote them out if they vote for anything to restrict free OTC access to vitamin and mineral supplements!! Of course, I believe a minimum of 80% of the bums should be turned out EVERY ELECTION!

If you aren't familiar with CODEX Alimentarius, please do yourself the favor of a Google. This decision seems like a thinly veiled attempt to chip away at our dietary supplement supplies, as they have in the European Union. Due to this recent legislation, our health freedoms are more at risk now than ever.

I urge you to write your representatives. Simply Google your state representatives for names and address information (for example, "California state representatives"). I have called and written on various issues, and I always hear back from them. You can email or snail mail (snail mail seems to hold more weight and garners more attention). Just take a moment to write something simple, such as:

"I don't agree with the FDA decision to remove Vitamin B6 from the market for OTC distribution. I insist on enjoying my health freedom choices, including the of purchasing all dietary supplements as I have for all my life. I insist that Vitamin B6 goes back on the shelves and all dietary supplements freely remain available for purchase as they are today."

Use your voice. YOU have the power to reverse this decision.
